10,000th Emergency Department Patient

Holmesglen Private Hospital is celebrating a milestone this week with the arrival of our 10,000th patient into our Emergency Department. Since opening in January 2017 thousands of patients have visited our hospital either for surgical, medical or rehabilitation admission. The 10,000th patient to be admitted to the Emergency Department is a great milestone in the success story of Holmesglen Private Hospital.

“Reaching our 10,000th patient within 20 months of opening the Emergency Department demonstrates how successfully the community has embraced our private hospital and the emergency services that we provide” stated Emergency Director Dr Raja Barua.

“Prior to opening, patients had to travel significant distances to receive emergency medical care. We have seen many patients across the medical spectrum, from children with broken limbs, to patients with significant and life threatening conditions. Our aim is to provide a high quality private emergency service with care and compassion, in a timely manner to our patients.”

In 2018 Holmesglen Private launched the live online wait time data for the Emergency Department. This is of significant assistance to medical practitioners and patients as it gives a live update on how long people will be waiting to be seen in the Emergency Department.

“By providing real time data to patients and parents of the youngest members of our community, we can significantly reduce wait times for patients. Real time wait data gives people choice over where they will travel to for emergency medical treatment and whether they will choose public or private emergency care” commented Darren de Vries the Emergency Department Nurse Unit Manager.

Over 2018 Holmesglen Private Hospital have seen a significant increase in our services as well as community engagement. We have recruited a significant amount of doctors across a variety of specialties and seen the opening of many new medical suites by specialists who are relocating their services to the hospital precinct.

“The community has embraced our hospital and the emergency service we offer,” stated Keryn Hopkins Hospital General Manager, “welcoming our 10,000th patient is a great milestone in the development of our services to the community and congratulations to Dr Barua, his medical team and the staff of the hospital.”
